Description
The AUTOSTAR Emulator for Web Browsers (ASEW) is the modern replacement for failed/failing MEADE® hand controllers. Powered by the ESP32-S3, ASEW connects directly to your telescope over RS-232 and transforms any device — laptop, tablet, or smartphone — into a wireless hand controller.
Whether you’re at the eyepiece or across the yard, simply open your browser, connect over Wi-Fi, and enjoy full AUTOSTAR functionality in a clean, touch-friendly interface.
Why ASEW?
Free yourself from the cord — no more being tethered to a coiled handbox.
Works everywhere — Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS — if it has a browser, it works.
Zero learning curve — The interface mirrors the original hand controller, so you already know how to use it.
Plug-and-Play — Powered by the ESP32-S3, with built-in Wi-Fi and a KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) setup philosophy.
Always up-to-date — Built-in OTA (Over-The-Air) firmware updates, so you can upgrade straight from your browser with no cables or special tools.
Compatibility
Full Replacement: Works seamlessly on mounts that use AUTOSTAR II or AUTOSTAR III (e.g., LX200, LX600, LX850, LS series).
Other Models: For scopes using AUTOSTAR 497 / AUDIOSTAR (LX90, LX85, ETX, LXD75, DS, etc.), ASEW will still provide remote control, but it cannot always replace the handbox since the RS-232 port lives on the controller itself.
Tested & Proven
ASEW has been successfully tested across multiple platforms and screen sizes, delivering a smooth, reliable, and portable telescope control experience.
In short: ASEW lets you free yourself from the hand controller — and take full control of your telescope from any device, anywhere.
